Orlando is Florida’s fifth largest city, and traveling from hotels to attractions requires a sound form of transportation. Before you pack your bags and board the plane, take a look at the list of the different forms of transportation in Orlando.

  1. Nearly all resorts, luxury hotels and cheap hotels offer shuttle buses to and from the airport, as well as to and from the theme parks. Oftentimes, shuttle services are complementary, but sometimes a small fee is charged. If your hotel doesn’t offer a shuttle service, don’t worry: there are plenty of other forms of transportation to take you to your destination.

The major car rental companies have websites where you can reserve all types of car, from compacts to convertibles, for any number of days. If you don’t have time to reserve your car online, you can always go to one of the car rental offices at the airport.
  3. Orlando has an excellent public transportation system called LYNX. This public bus system services all of Central Florida and with a standard one-way bus fare of $2 per passenger, it’s an excellent way to travel on a budget. Daily and weekly passes are also available.
  4. Downtown Orlando provides a free bus system, LYMMO. If you’re staying at one of the cheap hotels in the area, or plan to visit downtown, be sure to check the website at www.golynx.com.
  5. Like every major city in the United States, you can always get a cab in Orlando. You can ask the front desk at your hotel to call one for you, or simply flag one down on the street. Mears Taxi Cabs, approved by Walt Disney World, also operates the Yellow and Checker cabs, and offers some of the most reliable taxis in the area.
