When visiting San Francisco, it will not be hard for you to find accommodations as there are many cheap hotels in the area. The hardest thing about getting a hotel will be choosing a place that has everything you want and expect in a hotel. One of the things you will need to consider is whether you prefer to stay in a hotel located right in the city centre or would you prefer to stay somewhere further away but close enough to be able to commute back and forth. Although there are many advantages to staying in the city, there are also many advantages to staying outside of it too. Most travelers to San Francisco would not even consider this option because they assume it will be too hard and expensive to commute back and forth and they stay in the city merely for convenience. I will give you some reasons why it is a good idea to consider staying outside the city and I will also give you some tips on which hotels are the most cheap to stay at, what is available in terms of public transportation and some ideas of what to see and do outside the city that you may not have thought of as you were so focused on what to see and do within the city!
There are many reasons why some travelers prefer to stay in hotels located outside major metropolitan areas and here are some of those reasons:
1) Staying in a hotel in the centre of a city may mean trying to sleep through loud noises including sirens, traffic and people and this is often constant throughout the night even in the smallest of cities. Hotels away from cities are usually located in quieter areas away from main roads.
2) Hotels located outside of major cities tend to be much cheaper. When staying downtown, you will pay more because of the location and the fact that most hotel chains tend to reserve their most elegant hotels for the center city while hotels located away from downtown tend to be more laid back and simple.
3) Staying outside the city will give you the opportunity to see other areas that you may not have seen if you did not venture away from the city centre.
Some great and cheap hotels outside San Francisco include The Hampton Inn in Daly City and the Hyatt Regency and Embassy Suites near the San Francisco Airport.
When choosing a hotel that is far away from most of the things you want to see and do, make sure to find out about transportation. If you plan to rent a car when you arrive, make sure there is a rental car company in the area. If you will be walking, make sure you are not too far out of the city. If you will be relying on public transportation, make sure you get a hotel that is close to a major bus route. You don’t need to stay in an expensive or elaborate hotel in downtown San Francisco to enjoy what one of America’s favourite cities has to, a hotel on the outskirts will leave you with the same opportunities except with a lower price tag and a quieter sleep.
